Quick start: your first season
Four steps and you are gardening. Everything else you can discover as you go.

Buy your seeds
Open the Shop. Vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers, shrubs and trees, plus tools, soil improvers and features such as a pond or a bug hotel. Spend carefully: this is your whole season’s budget.

Plant your beds
Press Plant, pick a seed packet, then tap an empty bed. Neighbours matter: some plants are old friends and grow better side by side.

Let time pass
Press play, or the double arrow to run fast. Days turn, seasons shift, and the weather does as it pleases: sunshine, rain, frost, heat and the occasional storm.

Tend and harvest
Water in dry spells, Feed to keep the soil in heart, and Protect when frost or pests threaten. When a crop is ready, tap it to harvest.
Playing full screen
To go full screen
Tap the expand button in the toolbar, next to Fit. The garden fills the whole screen, just like an app. On a phone or tablet, turning to landscape gives you the most room.
To come back
The same button becomes an exit button while you are full screen: tap it to return. On a computer you can also press the Esc key.
Worth knowing
- Wildlife arrives if you invite it.Add a pond, a log pile, a bug hotel or a native hedge and watch for bees, butterflies, ladybirds, birds, frogs, dragonflies and, if you are lucky, a hedgehog.
- Your harvest becomes recipes.Gather the right ingredients and dishes unlock themselves, from a simple garden salad to berry crumble.
- The Book remembers everything.Your season journal, achievements and recipe collection all live under Book in the toolbar.
- Nothing to sign up for.Your garden saves itself in your own browser. No account, no tracking, and it keeps playing offline once the page has loaded.
- Play your own way.Campaign sets you a score to beat; Sandbox simply lets you garden. Pick your climate, soil and level of challenge before you start.
Something is watching how you garden
Every choice you make (what you plant, where you put it, how you spend, whether you tend or improvise) quietly shapes something that is revealed only when the season ends. Reach November to find out what it says about you, and save a result card to keep or share.
Ready? Scroll back up, press Shop, and get your hands dirty. A season takes only a few minutes, and no two ever turn out quite the same; a different approach, or a different climate and soil, will give you a different garden entirely.
